Ms. Rau to discuss unique difficulties they are having that involve utilizing technology to help with ordering and order fulfillment, particularly with their Amish members.

SLC Technology Committee Minutes


4/21/11

1. Laura provided an update on the symposium. All presentation slots are full; nearly 100 people have registered; and we have about 12 exhibitors lined up. Senator Ritchie presenting introductory remarks. Dave Wolf, Kevin Lynch, and Phil Wagschal are planning to cover Access, Adoption, Opportunity aspects of technology initiative in the North Country. Reception will be held at the end of the day; details TBD. Working out details on workshop sessions also.

2. Committee Updates

a. Education Committee. Mission statement was circulated in advance of the meeting. Laura suggested that periodic meetings be conducted with the St. Lawrence County interim IT Director (Keith Zimmerman).

b. Strategic Planning. Group is developing a survey to distribute to sectors to update rankings of “where we’re at” and “where we’re going”. Challenges going forward will be closing gap for access and then education to increase adoption.

3. Presentation to Legislators

a. Some committee members presented an overview to the legislators. Attendance at meeting was low and liaison (Steve Putman) from board has not attended a Technology Committee meeting yet.

4. New Business

a. Bill Hunter provided an overview of an article in the Watertown Daily Times on 4/20/11 regarding National Grid pole licensing fee increases of up to 1000%. Both DANC and Slic Network Solutions, Inc. have filed complaints with the PSC against National Grid. B. Hunter recommended that the SLC Technology Committee join DANC and Slic in their complaint. L. Perry will contact SLC Legislator Operations Committee chair to request National Grid come to meeting to explain rate increase, as immediate next step; and send out letter to PSC.

b. Meeting Attendance. Committee discussed attendance requirements in the by-laws and reminded those present that active participation in sub-committees is expected.
