SLC-IT Education Committee Mission, 3/2011
The mission of the SLC-IT Education Committee is to assist the SLC-IT committee in their goal of improving all aspects of Information technology in St. Lawrence County by; i) providing a forum for entities that are seeking IT help, ii) educating the committee on new technologies, innovations, programs or applications that are available, iii) enhancing the awareness of services and technologies that are available in St. Lawrence County, and iv) providing education on IT solutions for specific vertical markets.

We plan to have a guest speaker present for up to 30 minutes at the beginning of each meeting unless the agenda is too full or if we don’t have a good topic for presentation. We will attempt to rotate the presentations between some technology presentations, having companies in St. Lawrence County present on their capabilities, hearing from entities that are seeking help, and occasionally seek out an entity that we may want to encourage to use IT. On the education component we plan to provide a mix of information specific to targeted groups of interest (healthcare, agriculture, education, etc.) and some general info on new technologies, etc.

We will also invite some outside people when we do the vertical market specific training. For example, if we do training on healthcare invite the hospital CIO’s.
